Social Skills & Group Services

Social skills don’t come naturally to everyone—and that’s okay. At Peak Learning Centre, we provide structured, evidence-based programming to help children and youth learn how to communicate, connect, and thrive in their social world.

Whether your child is just beginning to explore shared play or navigating the nuances of teenage friendships, we offer personalized, goal-driven sessions that support their growth—on their terms.

How It Works

  • Age Range: Available for learners from early childhood through 18 years old, depending on comprehension level

  • Delivery: 1:1 sessions or small groups, depending on availability and client goals

  • Frequency: Weekly or multiple times per week

  • Enrollment: Ongoing—no set start or end dates

  • Grouping: Based on ability and treatment goals

Sessions are therapist-led and tailored to the individual, with data collected and tracked on paper. Daily notes are provided, and formal progress reports are available upon request (additional fee applies).

Teen & Youth Social Groups

Our Teen and Youth Social Groups provide a safe, welcoming space for older learners to practice and refine more complex social skills through roleplay, guided interaction, and behavioral strategies like modeling and reinforcement.

Topics and activities may include:

  • Initiating conversations and maintaining engagement

  • Handling rejection and disagreement

  • Roleplaying real-world scenarios (e.g., group work, conflict resolution)

  • Confidence and self-advocacy

  • Emotional regulation and identity

These groups are also informed by social work and psychotherapy approaches, under the guidance of our in-house clinicians.

Our programs can support goals like:

  • Turn-taking, sharing, and cooperative play

  • Initiating and maintaining conversations

  • Understanding social cues and body language

  • Managing frustration or disappointment

  • Building self-esteem and confidence

  • Developing and maintaining friendships

Instruction is informed by ABA strategies and enhanced by resources like the AIM ,  Everyday Speech and PEERS® programs.
